You are looking at a minimum of US$400 for an 8-port 100Base-TX concentrator,
and you would be lucky to get one under $500. The least expensive I know of
is the Netgear FE108, with a street price of about $390.
Netgear also makes the FE104, a 4-port version, for approximately $190.
If you want an 8-port switching hub -- a significant advantage when playing
Doom or Quake -- instead of an unswitched concentrator, then you will face a
bill in the neighborhood of $2000.
