subject: Deleting DAD?

DN> How do I keep DAD from coming up? I guess if I was brave I'd just
DN> go into WIN.INI and delete all references to it. But I'm not
DN> brave when this computer is considered. :=) I don't use DAD and
DN> it's always in the way of other things on the Desktop and inside
 DN> other applications.
AR>Win3.1: remove it from the Startup group
AR>Win95: Start | Programs | Startup
AR>In that folder you should find the DAD. Drag it to another
AR>safe place. I.e. NOT the waste basket.
Why *not* the recycle bin (waste basket)? What you're getting rid of is a
shortcut, not the program itself. That shortcut in Windows 95 is almost
exactly analogous to the icon you *do* recommend deleting in Windows 3.1.
It's actually *safer* to delete it in Windows 95 than it is in 3.1, since
you have the built-in protection offered by the recycle bin.
