Dear Hank,
VF> How is your wife doing now? I know so many people now that have
VF> served time for things they didn't do.
HB> MUCH better, now, thank you. She, in fact, has started her own
HB> company and is doing quite well, considering...
I'm glad to hear she is doing well. What kind of company does she have?
It's none of my business really, just curious. I have a desk top
publishing business, but haven't had time to do much with it in quite
awhile now. I guess one nice thing about being self-employed is that
you don't have to answer to your boss!
HB> The Texas judicial system is such a crock! I'm teaching my children
HB> about the way the Texas system really is; not the way we were led to
HB> believe in school...Unfortunate, but true...
I know many people that are doing the same thing. Unfortunately if you
teach your children not to trust the Child Welfare Agencies and they find
out about it, they really hammer on you for it. They don't like parents
teaching their children not to trust the "Child Savers". It really goes
against the grain with them.
VF> One friend of mine suggested loading box cars (trains)
VF> full of case files of people that were victimized by CPS and
VF> sending it to the White House. There could be a whole lot of
VF> media attention and I think it would really generate a lot
VF> of interest, but who knows how much good it would do? It
VF> also helps to have a reasonable alternative or another plan
VF> to follow if we should manage to pull CPS down, as there are
VF> children who do need protection from their families, and we
VF> don't want to leave them stranded in bad situations.
VF> Whatever we do, it HAS to be done right. If you have any
VF> ideas, I'd love to hear them.
HB> I'll try to think of something, I assure you!
Thanks! A little word of caution though, if you write a letter to the
President of the United States to complain about your issues, that letter
can be passed down to the agency you're having trouble with and they can
use it against you in a court of law. Isn't that a comforting thought?
HB> BTW, when Jan had to go to prison here, her college
HB> education was actually a hinderance...she and I are so much better
HB> educated than the guards that they resented her and really felt like
HB> she and I were looking down on her (especially when they found out that
HB> we were not only educated, but also were business owners, homeowners,
HB> and I also have held an extremely well-paying job for about 15 years.).
HB> They just didn't seem to have a category to fit us in to...
Yeah, it's kind of hard to be classified as low-life scum when you've
had so much going for you on the outside. I worked with a couple of male
inmates that were like that and they had a really difficult time, not only
with the guards, but the parole board and the other inmates.
HB> Val, good luck, and in any case, please keep the faith and keep us
HB> informed...Our prayers are with you and your family...
Thank you! I'm trying to keep the faith, but some days it's not easy.
Today is one of them. My husband is doing a pretty good job of keeping
everyone informed (at least I think he is). Talk to you later. I still
have 30 some messages to answer and am trying to get them all done today.
Val
