HS>PD> ard Bell 486dx2/66 - 'Legend' computer, with HS>PD> Sound Galaxy Washington card combined with 14k4 modem, and for last x Hey, you got my puter! I had some difficulties as well when I installed my 14400. Got over them, information provided a little short, modem strings not forte ( semi-newbie), however, I have also had trouble with different software picking up irq's and addrss's at times. Sometimes it's not the init string. cntrl, alt, s brings up setup and you can disable com1, standard default to something like com3 irq 4 like mine, provided you don't have something already there. You may have to edit a file in the comm pkg as not all readily set-up on three, also switch setting on modem. Hope some-one gets something out of this. I had nightmare's fighting some of this myself. Wayne HS> Do you know which brand modem this is? If you can issue an ATi3 to the HS>modem HS> this will give you some identifying info (though it may be somewhat HS>cryptic). HS> Without knowing the brand of modem, you'll find it difficult to get a lis HS>of HS> all the "AT" commands. Different brands will usually have the very basic HS> commands "hayes compatible", but the more complex commands and egisters HS>will HS> be somewhat proprietary.
