A common microwave oven can disable most of that, if the item is mostly
nonmetallic.  A few seconds on the highest setting will destroy any
electronic component without damaging either the oven or the item.  Ever
put an unwanted CD in an oven?  Take an AOL disk, set it on a glass
tumbler in the middle of the oven.  Hit the highest setting for five
seconds.  Zap..
