Some places continue athletic scholarships for injured players; under NCAA rules, such continuation doesn't count against scholarship limits so it is "just" a matter of funding. I have a really tough time understanding a school that doesn't insure injuries occurring during weight training related to an athlete's primary sport. That's a major (and fully justified, IMnshO) lawsuit waiting to happen.
