I know this is late, but I bought an A1200 a few years ago, the entire keyboard was pretty much dead, but they said it wasn't a problem as they shipped an external keyboard. LoL It was an A3000 keyboard, but I don't think there is any way to connect it to an A1200. I didn't look that hard,the keyboard is on the shelf, haven't tested it as I have no other eqipment to do so. It isn't pretty, but it is authentic.
