LOL, I have heard this unbelievable line of hippie shit for decades. If humans
are so smart, we would all be living in a utopian paradise with a clean
planet, no poverty, no starving third-world countries, etc. And maybe 
technically smart enough to have the flying cars and cities on the moon.

Face it - Its not the individual so much that drives the SUV thats 
the problem. Its industrial culture that will NOT change, and capitalism 
drives the economies worldwide. There is no alternative. Not socialism; not
hippies holding hands. And all of these climate-change nutjob protesters are
all looking to big government to fix everything. While at the same time
complaining that governments cannot be trusted, especially American ones.

To be clear - I respect true environmentalists who actually do something like
wash animals at the beach from spilt oil tankers, or pick up plastic, or clean
up city slums, etc. If more people did that, there WOULD be a noticable 
difference for the planet, the environment and noone would really complain.

And I have done volunteer work like this, so I have seen first hand the 
difference between a mindless climate protester and a person who actually 
gives a shit to do something.
