right... the Graphics Processing Unit is nothing more than a (special) CPU
for the video... much like the old caching controller cards back in the
early days of IDE drives had their own processors on them... my 286-12mhz
box had a caching controller card that had a 286-20mhz chip on it... the
machine had, 64Meg of RAM and the caching controller card had 96Meg (if i
recall those two sets of numbers correctly)... in any case, the caching
controller was faster and had more memory than the main system board so my
caching controller card was a more powerful computer inside my computer and
it was totally dedicated to handling the information to and from the 4 hard
drives i was running at the time :lol:
