Ecclestone breaks the 'bernie' a week barrier

(30-Jul-98) - Bernie Ecclestone has become the first Briton to earn over
one million pounds a week.

The boss of Formula One Administration Limited, whose first name has become
slang for one million pounds, recently had his company's accounts sent to
Companies House revealing a salary of œ54.9 million for the year ending
March '96.

Ecclestone is paying tax and social security payments on this salary of
approximately œ25 million.
