  Not really.  The main point is that 3D Realms is more ACTIVE in their 
storytelling.  You're not dumped into an environment and told "kill 
everything, report back later."  While the overriding objective is still to 
kill some boss at the end of a level, the ultimate gameplay is more like one 
really long level; with id, it's like snippets of action that just happen to 
lead up to an end level.
