You can reset the CMOS.
if you an have on-board battery it's by moving the battery jumper to a new
position on it's pin-strip. (not sure which one, try them all :)
if you have a removable battery un-plug it and short-circuit the contacts it
connected to with the end of a screw driver or a coin or something.
 put it back how you found it and power on.
 - hardware beats software any day :)
The short curcuiting may not be strictly neccessary but if it only takes a 
ew
seconds, you might as well make sure first time.
