Alesi confident after best showing for Sauber

(25-Jul-98) - Jean Alesi delivered Sauber the best qualifying performance
of their history at Austria on Saturday and said he was confident of giving
the team even more in the race.

The French-Sicilian, who last started on pole in last year's Italian Grand
Prix, revealed that he had tried as hard as he could to lift his car's
performance.

"I think it is fantastic for the team," he said. "We
deserved to have three points at Silverstone two weeks ago, so hopefully
this makes up for it.

"And I am not just excited about the position today because I am
looking forward to the Grand Prix. I was pushing at 100 per cent and it
went very well -- so hopefully I can do just the same tomorrow."
