No, I'm not one of those guys who mikes up bass amps.  I'm one of those guys 
that watches my other guys mike the bass amp... and frown.

I use a bass direct box, taking the signal right out of the bass itself.

much easier to EQ that way without all the other buzz, hum, and background 
noise.  :)

I think that 58's are fine for vocals also.  I was just looking for a good 
studio mike.
