Hakkinen unhappy with third

(25-Jul-98) - Mika Hakkinen did not share the joy of Giancarlo Fisichella
and Jean Alesi, despite jumping from 11th to 3rd in the dying seconds of
qualifying.

The Finn, who leads the world championship, had been hoping for much more
after McLaren had dominated the free practice sessions at the A1-Ring.

"To be honest, I am not happy," he said. "I would rather be
first, but conditions were more difficult than I expected. The track was
very difficult to drive and it was hard to get the confidence under
braking.

"I was quite disappointed with the result. The race is not going to be
easy. Overtaking is always very hard and having Jean up there is not good
news because he is experienced and he is a tough racer. It all depends on
my car and depends on his.

"As far as Giancarlo is concerned, he hasn't been in Formula One very
long and starting in pole will be very good for him. It is the best place
to be. As far as racing him, I am not worried because I know he is very
fair."
