PN>As a practical matter, 3/4 of the bs we have in the schools now comes
PN>from Washington. When we accept that the central government can impose
PN>"standards" on us we give up a concommitant degree of freedom: a
PN>metaphor for the last 50 years.
Of course, if someone in the district doesn't like something about the
chool,
they immediately file a lawsuit. One advantage of the present system is the
courts can hear one suit rather than one for each school district. Frankly,
think the national system is better, what we need is to find a way to make it
responsible to local needs. The best way to do that is to change the entire
government. Elect people who think as we do and everything will change,
schools, taxes, welfare, etc.......
Take care,
David R. Norton
