But he was definitely a pro-defense (and pro-Navy) president. He also had some (limited) experience in the military: http://www.eisenhower.utexas.edu/wwiirea.htm Commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the Army Reserve in 1937, Reagan reported for active duty on April 19, 1942. Due to nearsightedness, he was eligible only for limited service. An actor, Reagan was assigned to the Army Air Corps' first motion picture unit to participate in training and combat films. He also made films to raise funds for the war effort. Reagan left active duty December 9, 1945, as a captain and was discharged from the reserve in 1953 as a major. Plus he starred in the film "Hellcats of the Navy." Tom Cruise should take note if he ever wants to run for President.... -- Jeff Shultz --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-4* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
