From: Garey Barrell Subject: Re: [drakelist] AC-4 Cap values Garey Barrell made an utterence to the drakelist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Carl - AC-4 had 20/20 on the bias supply for years. Late production started using 40/40's. Never had any problems with the 20/20's, possibly the 40/40 became more available. The AC-4 parts list dated Oct 1, 1976 shows the 40/40 also. The AC-4 was introduced in 68 or 69. Your 33/33 should be fine. 73, Garey - K4OAH Atlanta Drake C-Line Service Manual http://hr99.home.mindspring.com/R-4C_Servicez/> Carl Strode wrote: > > Carl Strode made an utterence to the drakelist > gang > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > I am about to re-cap one of my AC-4s. > > Looking at several schematics, I note that C5a and C5b are shown as 20 > microfarads. > > I have a parts list dated September 1, 1974 that shows both C5s as 40 > microfarads. > > Looking at the AC-4 I see that indeed there are 40 mic caps installed. > > What is the scoop here?? > > Also, I have found a bunch of new electrolytics of larger values that > I am planning to use.
