I dont recall where I saw this, but its a lovely one!
Take left over toilet paper rolls (the cardboard tube) and wrap in pretty
paper, fitted to the season. Leave one end open. Fill with little candy/nut
treats and maybe some tiny 'toys'. Make a toilet paper/tissue paper 'rose'
and tuck in the top. Place one at each child's setting for a party favor.
Smile, did this for Charlotte (4YO) and friends just yesterday and it was a
hit with all the younglings, not to mention quite inexpensive. Twas a small
party for some others celebrating everyone with a birthday that month.
School thing. Each parent was asked to provide something fun for the party,
and ideas were given. I had just returned from sea the day before (I'm Navy)
and hadnt had time to be in the pickings for the regualr stuff and didnt want
to duplicate another parents contribution so this idea was god-sent.
I made up 8 of these, one per child. I called the teacher and got the info
on the kids. One is hebrew from a family that keeps kosher pretty much, and
is diabetic, so got a toy (party blower) and some mixed nuts from the local
kosher store (I think there is no difference with nuts, but wasnt sure so
made the extra trip as a courtesy. Added 2 diabetic candies from same
ore).
Other kids got 2 candies, nuts (all nuts were pre-shelled and chopped small
enough to be safe for this age group or were deshelled sunflower seeds) and a
toy. I used plain white paper to wrap the toilet rolls in, then used magic
markers to make cute faces and write the childs name on each one. The girls
got pink 'roses' and the boys got blue 'roses'.
This idea was a keeper!
