Mark,
I finally got back from the family vacation. I had the chance to get down to
Va. Beach for a day. Ended up diving with Lynnhaven Dive Center (804)
481-7949. Their brochure says they have an internet E mail address of ldc
scuba@aol.com . Water temps were mid 60s at the surface and mid 50s below
the thermocline at about 20 feet. The bad news was they had some storms a
couple of days prior to my dives, so the visability was not too good - 10-15
feet. Lynnhaven Dive Center was well stocked and clean with lots of quality
rental gear, if needed. One of their employees didn't seem too interested in
talking to me, but the shop seems well run in general (I guess rude employees
are everywhere). They have trips going out almost every day, I have a summer
schedule if it may be any help. We went out on a boat named the Cindy Loo,
she was a bit crowded as it was the first nice saturday after a spell of bad
weather. She had a good captain and personable mates, even with the crowd,
they made it a nice trip (hour and a half boat ride each way). In general, I
would recommend the shop and the boat if you are in the area. Let me know if
I can answer any questions.
Dave
