Well, getting the 4-track tape recorder isn't a problem. I have a 24-track
ADAT system along with a 32-channel 8-bus Mackie. The question I'm asking is
if I mixdown to 4 tracks, is it possible to encode that onto a 2-track video
tape and have it decode it into the 4 original channels? From what you've
told me, it sounds like that's impossible with discrete surround sound.
