My question:  How do I place a
tilde (~) above a character when I am typing Spanish words?
Re the above Question:
have you tried Choosing the Insert Menu
                                then Symbol, select the Braggadocio Font 
which has the characters you may be looking for.
As for BBS Techniques I shall leave that to the experts.
