subject: Quickstart on XT

Here's the new chapter in my continuing saga of
trying to install Quickstart on my XT.
Not having a 3.5 floppy drive on the XT I installed
Quickstart on my son's 486. (5.25 disks are no longer
available). Following Stephen Haffly's suggestion I used
Pkzip to make a backup copy of the intire Geoworks directory
to 5.25 and then unzipped it to the hard drive of the XT.
Attempting to run SETUP on the XT I get this message:
"Since you are running SETUP from the hard disk you'll
only be able to change the current configuration. To
reinstall you must run SETUP from the installation
disk #1."
I tried forging ahead and got this result. SETUP makes
changes to my geos.ini file and then says the changes are
complete. Hitting enter to run Geowrks I get the following
reports: Initializing heap, file module, drive module, geode module,
thread module, timer, object, scrub, file system drive and
then--
      System error: Fatal error in
      C:\geoworks
Attempting to load Geoworks from the C:\> prompt with the
Geos batch file ends with the same System error.
Obviously I need to reconfigure for the XT but how can I do
this if I can't run SETUP? Could I run SETUP on the 486 and
answer as if it was the XT and then install that configuration
on the XT hard drive? Or am I going to have to find an XT with
a 3.5 drive so I can run SETUP from the installation disk?
By the way, Quickstart installed very easily on the 486. All
I had to do was answer the questions and it ran flawlessly right
from the start with no fussing at all. I think it would work
just as well on the XT if I had the right size drive.
There must be a way to do this. Suggestions anyone?
