Fisichella on pole with Alesi second

(25-Jul-98) - Giancarlo Fisichella took his first career pole position in a
rain soaked qualifying session in Austria today with the Sauber of Jean
Alesi lining up next to him.

Mika Hakkinen finished third fastest just ahead of Michael Schumacher. The
Ferrari driver dominated much of the session but dropped to fourth in the
dying seconds as a gaggle of cars took full advantage of the rapidly drying
conditions.

Rubens Barrichello gave Stewart new hope as he moved into fifth in the
dying moments of the session

The Arrows of Mika Salo will start in sixth as the waterlogged circuit
helped narrow the power advantage of the top teams.
