McLarens on top in pre-qualifying practice

(25-Jul-98) - The McLaren-Mercedes of David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen
scythed through the early morning alpine mist that hung over the A1-Ring to
emerge fastest in the final free practice session for tomorrow's Austrian
Grand Prix. Once again they dominated the standings, ahead of the Ferrari
of Eddie Irvine, the Williams of Heinz-Harald Frentzen and the second
Ferrari of world championship contender Michael Schumacher.

Damon Hill was pleasantly surprised to end the session seventh fastest,
just 1.4 seconds behind the pace setting McLaren of Hakkinen. But with rain
forecast for this afternoon's qualifying session and tomorrow's race, could
all their hard work be for nothing? One thing is for sure, you'll find out
