Irvine stays put

(29-Jul-98) - Ferrari have announced that Eddie Irvine will remain with the
Italian team next season.

A statement from the Scuderia announced that the Ulsterman's contract has
been extended until the end of '99 taking hi into his fourth season with
the team.

Irvine had been linked to a number of teams and has on several occassions
talked of taking a number one spot with another team. However, lead driver
Michael Schumacher is known to be keen on keeping Irvine in the second
Ferrari where he has proved the perfect number 2.
