McLaren protest expected

(29-Jul-98) - McLaren are believed to be on the verge of protesting Ferrari
because it believes the Italian team are using a banned driver-aid system.

Although the Scuderia's cars regularly pass inspection and scrutineering,
McLaren think the Italian cars have a system that could be interpreted as a
form of programmable brake balance banned at the end of last season.

Ron Dennis, however, appeared equally upset with Ferrari for letting the
media know about the situation between the two teams.

The McLaren boss said, "Prior to the Brazilian Grand Prix (in March),
there was some dialogue between myself and the senior management of
Ferrari, and we agreed that it would be correct if we had a code of conduct
in respect each other's team's intentions. I'm a bit disappointed having
followed that code of conduct that the management of Ferrari choose to
immediately share it with the media."
