Irvine to stay with Ferrari in 1999

MARANELLO, Italy (Jul 29, 1998 - 10:22 EDT) - British driver Eddie Irvine
will stay at Ferrari for the 1999 Formula One season, the Italian team said
on Wednesday.

Irvine extended his current contract for another year, Ferrari said in a
statement, without giving financial details.

Irvine joined Ferrari at the start of the 1996 season after three years at Jordan.

He finished 10th in the drivers' championship in his first year with the
team, eighth last year and is currently fourth in the 1998 title race
behind team mate Michael Schumacher and McLaren drivers Mika Hakkinen and
David Coulthard.
