AP - Lebanon apologized Monday to Denmark after thousands of rampaging
Muslim demonstrators set fire to the building housing the Danish
mission in Beirut -- the most violent in a growing string of worldwide
protests over caricatures of Islam's Prophet Muhammad. In Afghanistan
hundreds of demonstrators clashed with police and soldiers, leaving one
dead and four injured.
Cole Mastermind Escapes From Yemen Prison (AP)
AP - An al-Qaida operative sentenced to death for plotting the USS Cole
bombing that killed 17 sailors in 2000 was among a group of convicts
who escaped from a Yemen prison last week, Interpol said Sunday in
issuing a global security alert.
Ferry Passenger Families Lash Out in Egypt (AP)
AP - Relatives of passengers on a ferry that sank in the Red Sea
attacked the offices of the ship's owners Monday, throwing furniture
into the street and burning the company's sign. Riot police fired tear
gas to restore order.

AP - Drive-by gunmen killed one policeman and wounded another in
northern Iraq on Monday, while police uncovered the bullet-riddled
bodies of two men in Baghdad, police said.

AP - Costa Rica's presidential election tightened early Monday as a
staunch critic of the country's free trade pact with the United States
pulled nearly even with the candidate largely expected to win, Nobel

Egyptians ransack ferry firm office (Reuters)
Reuters - Angry Egyptians seeking news of relatives lost aboard the
ferry which sank in the Red Sea last week ransacked the office of the

said.
