| subject: | [AWARDS] Most Deteriorated Wrestler [23/47] |
Message-ID: Most Deteriorated Wrestler Award Description: To be given to the person whose skill has deteriorated the most over the past year. This person should be a shadow of his/her former self. This is usually the most interesting category (along with "most disappointing news item) since it shows who *used* to be good that has really slid downhill. People keep voting Hulk here, but to deteriorate you're saying that he was any better last year. My top vote went to Hurricane. He used to be one of the best guys in the business. Now they've pretty much grounded him and his finisher is a freakin' chokeslam. My second vote goes to Triple H. Before his quad injury, he was actually able to carry quite a few people to very good PPV main events. Since coming back, it takes a pretty good worker to carry HHH to a good match. My final vote goes to Lenny Lane. This guy used to have the most awesome suicidal moves over the top rope. Now the only memorable matches he has are when he juices. BEANFRIEDPORK: Over the years Ric Flair has certainly deteriorated quite a bit, but since this category only specifies over the last year I really don't see muh change in him between now 2001, and consequently didn't vote for him. PAUL ZOROVICH: Most Deteriorated Wrestler: Scott Hall wasn't ever a GREAT wrestler, but he was a shadow of his former self when he came back to WWE this year. Undertaker continued on his downward slide as well. It hurts to include Flair here, since I think he's got one more great match in him, but frankly it pains me to watch him now. RINGMISTRESS: Ric was God, and it pained me to see him like this. CHRIS BIRD: I see Kevin Nash has gone from "can barely walk" to "can't walk, period." Which is truly impressive. And what is up with Raven? The man is a shell of his former self, and that's before we take his awful dreads into account. DOUG CORTI: As a wrestler, Juventud Guerrera spent most of the year trying his sports entertaiment schtick out in CMLL. He had a few nice moments, and he's better than many, but the difference between his work at his prime and his work now is drastic, and sad to see. JOSEPH HOFFMAN: Big Show NEVER had any talent. DON L: Triple H is a shell of his former self since coming back from his injury in January. I liked Jeff Hardy but he's really been bad this year missing spots. 3rd Nash well he's always been bad but atleast he was able to move limbs without tearing them up. CHRISTOPHER SHEA: ... right, right, boot choke, frame, elbow, crotch chop, SNAP, collapse to mat ... THE CUBS FAN: I didn't remember Juvi being this far gone at the end of his WCW stint - but maybe so many were that way? Anyhow, even though he will turn it on when he's facing really good people, you've never seen someone more obviously not care any more than the younger Guerrera. More power to you if you can live off your name and your rep, but I don't want to see you on my TV. Juvi's case is worse than Triple H, because outside of that one year pre-injury and a few spodaric occasions, he wasn't ever better than good. Juvi was Great, and while years of living The Life of a Wrestler will understandable hurt your ability to keep being Great, it's also seemingly killed his drive to even try to be good, which is all kinds of depressing. -- Christopher Robin Zimmerman | moderator, rec.sport.pro-wrestling.info WWW: CRZ.net | AIM: SeeOurZed | co-moderator, rec.sport.pro-wrestling.moderated -- ©2002 CRZ[tm] --- Internet Rex 2.29* Origin: The gateway at Swills (1:229/3000.1) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 229/3000 379/1 633/267 |
