Prost predicts technical changes for 1999

(25-Jul-98) - Team boss Alain Prost has said his team have now given up in
making major technical developments for the rest of this season and will
instead invest most of their time in working on next year's car.

The four-time world champion, whose team has failed to score a point this
year, also revealed that there would be changes in the technical department
of the team.

"I've been thinking for a long time about this and of course the
organisation of the team will be modified," he said. "Loic Bigois
will always be project leader and we will strengthen our team one way or
another. There are changes on the way.

"We have decided to concentrate on 1999 because of the weight handicap
we have this year, which we can't change without a great deal of effort. We
are planning to have an intermediate car up and running by the start of
October and we might also nominate a test driver to do some work."

Prost's decision to concentrate on next year means that they will not
introduce the long-wheelbase car which was rumoured over recent weeks.
