Another door closes for Frentzen

(25-Jul-98) - Heinz-Harald Frentzen's chances of staying in Formula One, if
Williams decide not to keep him, have suffered another blow with news that
Alain Prost is set to resign both his drivers for next year.

Frentzen had been linked with a job at both Sauber and Prost next year.
But, after the claims from Peter Sauber that it may be bad for both parties
if Frentzen rejoins him, Prost has now said that he is ready to resign both
his drivers.

"I am intent on keeping both drivers and I would hope to continue with
both," he said. "I have spoken to Frentzen, but even if I had
options with my current drivers I would still talk to others, just like
they are talking to other teams.

"It is almost impossible to feel the motivation in the team unless
both drivers and team want to achieve the same aim. I am sure both drivers
are motivated and I see no reason to change them."

Prost said that his option with Olivier Panis and Jarno Trulli expires on
August 15 and he will make an announcement on that date about his driver
line-up for 1999.
