RF> 1) PRO-66 50 channels, 800Mhz coverage, band search
RF> and search skip. $179
RF> 2) PRO-63 100 channel "event" scanner with VHF-air band. $199
RD> I wonder what the electrical difference between 30 channels, 50
RD> channels, 80 channels, etc.?
I haven't got a clue. Maybe someone else knows???
RD> Is it easier to build 30 channels as opposed to 100 channels? The
RD> prices don't seem to reflect that. As we know from the PRO-2004,
RD> getting from 300 to 400 channels was easy.
Again, I haven't a clue.
RD> I'm sure it's more complicated than I want to read in any case. I
RD> guess my main question is why a company would offer a 50-channel
RD> scanner for $179 when for $20 more you could get twice the channels?
I *think* that one is a pre-programmed frequency model for people who
don't want to manually search. In that case, one pays for ease of use.
RD> Okay, so there are some places where you don't need that many. In
RD> Panama City, Florida, I can put all the area law enforcement
RD> agencies in one bank of channels, plus have room for all the area
RD> boat frequencies, the CB channels, plus Jupiter and Saturn.
Jupiter AND Saturn? :) What type of stuff are you picking up, and how
long does it take for those messages to reach you? Are those messages
encrypted? Hehehe!
