It was on 06-22-96 when GEORGE FLIGER typed...
GF|CB> I have a generic ne2000 compatible network card that I set on
GF|CB> Irq 9/2 using the EZSET program on it's accompanying floppy.
GF|CB> Once it was set on that particular Irq and attempt to change
GF|CB> it (whether in a Dos window or in Dos mode on Win95)
GF|CB> freezes up the entire machine forcing me to reboot.
GF|Two choices I can think of. One, create a Win95 DOS boot
GF|diskette (format a: /u /s) and boot from that floppy, then try
GF|reconfiguring the card. If that doesn't work then the second
GF|option would be to pull the card from that machine and place it
GF|in another machine not running Win95 and attempt to configure it
GF|there. If the above two suggestions don't work I'd be inclined to
GF|believe the NVRAM on the NIC has gone bad. In that case, there's
GF|nothing you can do short of sending the card back to the
GF|manufacturer for refurbishment (most NIC's nowadays carry a
GF|lifetime warranty - you pay only shipping/handling).
I've tried switching the card to some other machines which didn't
work but I didn't think of booting from a floppy. I'll give that
one a try as soon as I can. Thanks.
