San Francisco used to do neighborhood pickups - I knew people that furnished
their houses almost entirely out of them! Now, they offer a twice-a-year bulky
pickup, but you have to call to schedule an single-house pickup. Nowhere near
as much fun or rewarding.

I wonder what would happen if an entire block signed up on the same day?  :)
