| subject: | HVDC TRANSMISSION LINES |
-=> Mike Ross said to Greg Mayman -=> about "HVDC TRANSMISSION LINES" on 12-27-02 22:43..... MR> They have separate windings but those I've examined are jumpered with MR> a strap right at the terminals, so they may as well be MR> autotransformers. There's only a single conductor going to earth MR> ground. That's odd about the strap. Yes, I knew about the single conductor going to earth. AFAIK, households connected to the SWER system must have their LV neutral lead grounded at input to the house, for obvious safety considerations. From Greg Mayman, in beautiful Adelaide, South Australia ... Riches cover a multitude of woes. ___ Blue Wave/386 v2.30 --- FLAME v2.0/b* Origin: Braintap BBS Adelaide Oz, Internet UUCP +61-8-8239-0497 (3:800/449) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 800/449 1 640/954 774/605 123/500 106/1 379/1 633/267 |
