While reading through my mail, I had another idea on the subject of
markers which can be carried underwater.  Why not a baloon, one of the
larger, sturdier types which could be inflated and tied to a line while
underwater, using a weight which would also need to be carried.  Seems
to be the ultimate in compactness which might be effective.
