High crash-rate at Monza

(16-Jul-98) - Testing at Monza hasn't been without damage in the first two days.

On Wednesday morning, Williams testdriver Juan Pablo Montoya, who has been
running at the Italian circuit since Monday, lost control of his Williams
FW20 at the Parabolica hitting the tyre barriers at about 230 km/h. Only
just a little later, Benetton driver Giancarlo Fisichella exited the track
at the Curva Ascari. In the afternoon, just after setting an unofficial
track record of 1:23.2, David Coulthard ended his run in the tyre barriers
of the Parabolica.

Yesterday, Benetton driver Alexander Wurz also spun at the Curva Ascari,
the same corner as which Fisichella spun today. All four drivers escaped
unhurt although all cars were damaged substantially.
