BL> I asked the GP and three separate cardiologists about Vitamins
BL> E, C, folic acid and antioxidants... and they all said the
BL> same: "There are encouraging results but it can be dangerous to
BL> rush in without a complete answer."

RLA> Meanwhile they are rushing in with other drugs.

It's strange but true that there is more research on pharmceuticals
than overdosing vitamins. The whole concept of chemical companies
doing medical research is crazy! The CSIRO does it for animals, but we
rely on crappy companies like Roche and Glaxo for people.

BL> The message was: "leave overdoses of vitamins for now."

 RLA> That one's easy. You can't patent a vitamin so there's less
RLA> $$$ involved. Some of these specialists are "encouraged" to
RLA> perscribe certain brand of drugs.

You are right about the money, but the rest is plain paranoia.
Doctors do not behave that way.

The problem stems from pharmaceutical companies. Medical research
should be conducted by bodies like the CSIRO and Universites and
funded by Government, not chemical companies. We pay government to
look after people, and then give control of all medicines to foreign
chemical companies. Mad. The whole concept of a patent is ridiculous.
Discoveries should belong to everyone, not individuals! Why should a
twit like Bill Gates be made immensely wealthy when he would have been
happy to do exactly the same thing for $10,000 a week? It's mad!

BL> In other words... it probably works but the AMA sees nothing in
BL> it for us. PC with a profit motive.

 RLA> YEP!

  The AMA needs destroying.

Regards,
Bob
