Mike, another all too common problem is when Windows95 improperly
identifies the IDE HDD subsystem. If it does not identify the subsystem
as "Standard IDE/ESDI HDD Controller" but as some other HDD system (like
PIIX but the drivers are not loaded properly or are corrupted) then the
CD-ROM will not be seen. Fixing the problem is generally as easy as
booting into safe mode and removing all devices listed under the HDD
Controller setting, shutting down, rebooting and allowing Windows95 to
re-identify the hardware as "Standard IDE/ESDI HDD Controller."
