Silverstone stewards face FIA (16-Jul-98) - Three stewards who were involved in last weekend's British Grand Prix have been called before the world motorsport council. The men, who have been criticised for their part in the confusion that saw Schumacher win in the pit-lane, have been invited by the FIA to attend the extraordinary meeting in Paris at the end of the month. Roger Peart, Howard Lapsley and Nazir Hoosein, who was involved in the controversy at the Brazilian Grand Prix, received their invitation from the FIA after reports from an official observer at last weekend's race. The three will be given the chance to defend their names after the confusion that saw Michael Schumacher win the race in the pit-lane after receiving a ten-second stop-go penalty for passing under yellow flags late, and completeing the penalty after crossing the finish line. --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
