Making for some very interesting close in maneuvering where you need to
reverse
an engine, then forward, then reverse. Guess that's what all those old tires
are for. :-)
I realize this is all completely off topic but, the one thing I've often
wondered about is, were the engines on the PT boats gas or diesel? I know
they
used three Packards, but what fuel? My guess is gas but, ya never know.
As for the Cooper-Bessemers, my guess is that was the forerunner to the FDL's
that GE uses even today. And with the EMD engines being direct descendents of
the WWII Wintons, they all have a really long and dated history, don't they?
