All that would be required is for everyone interested to download a copy of
FrontDoor 2.02 from their local BBS. (FrontDoor 2.02 is Freeware). The next
step would be to request a Fido address (You do not have to be a public BBS,
there are many people here in net 114 that are mail only) Fido can assign you
a node number as a point off another BBS, (this way you can poll for mail)
After it is setup then all you have to do is issue a file request(it is in
FrontDoor) and your system would dial mine (or what ever system) to get the
file. There is another option I am working on, a file echo. The way that
works is you send a message looking for a particular file and all the BBS's
that are setup will check their filebase and inform you where the file is.
While I do not believe there is currently a filefind echo in Fido there are
filefind echos in other networks. If you are interested check with your local
sysop about the ability to send Net mail, If he will let you, send one to me
at 1:114/423 along wit your voice # and a good time to call. Frontdoor can be
tricky and understanding the way these netwoks really work can sometimes be
confusing. I should know, I have been running a BBS for so long I can't
remember why I wanted to do this in the first place.
