TF>I talked to Anne the other day and she mentioned that you got a copy
TF>of Alltype. I used that program when I first started converting
TF>fonts and there are a few tips I can offer you about using it. Two
TF>things to remember. #1, there are a lot of fonts that Alltype
TF>cannot convert to the Geos format. You will get an error message
TF>"Too Much Outline Data". These fonts are just too complex for the
TF>conversion process even though some of the fonts look very simple.
TF>#2, get a copy of either id.exe or fontidtv.exe (both available on
TF>The Hole BBS) because you will have a LOT of duplicate font id
TF>numbers. Both these little programs let you easily change the id
TF>numbers. When converting with Alltype, it will assign consecutive
TF>id numbers to the fonts as you convert them...in that particular
TF>conversion session. The next session, it starts over with the same
TF>ID numbers. You can convert up to 30 fonts at one time. Oh, one
TF>more item, Alltype will not combine the different styles of a font
TF>into one file like the original fonts that come in the Ensemble
TF>program. You will have separate files for each of the normal, bold,
TF>italic, bold/italic, etc styles of each font. If you have any more
TF>questions about Alltype, be sure and ask me.

Hi Terri.......

What exactly is ALLTYPE? I've heard of it before....but not really
familiar as to what it is. I don't know if you're aware of it or not,
but Deep Space Nine suffered a complete crash about a week or so ago,
and after the tape restoration, I discovered one tape was bad. :( I lost
most of the filebase, but my co-system operator (Shawn Woodard) has been
keeping copies of most of the files on his end.....so we ARE rebuilding.
He's working on rebuilding our collection as I type right now....and I
just wanted to let ya know......we're not dying. :) We're comin' back.
:)

Later,
                                                Jay Fuller
