It really depends on the spots. There are many things that can produce white
spots on fish. Were the spots small and many? Or big and few? Did they
appear to be on the scales, through the scales or hanging off the scales?
It would also be helpful to know about your tank, it's filtration, and what
maintainence you do. As well as how many fish you started with, and how many
you added that day.
There is very little you can do once you have an epidemic in the tank. But
with most of these things, you should be able to treat the tank and save at
least some of the fish.
