The usual suspects - BAR's possible line-up

(15-Jul-98) - Jacques Villeneuve's decision to quit Williams and join the
new British American Racing team is expected to be announced at the
beginning of August.

The team has apparently targeted Champ Car drivers Adrian Fernandez and
Jimmy Vasser as possible team-mates for Villeneuve next season, although it
is now thought unlikely that either will leave the USA. Vasser is close to
concluding a new deal to stay at Ganassi and Fernandez is likely to stay
with the Patrick team.

Current CART Champion Alex Zanardi is also understood to have turned down
Pollock, and BAR is now likely to look to Europe for its second driver.

Mika Salo, a good friend of Villeneuve's, has been mentioned as a possible
at BAR. He is under contract to Arrows for next year, but he could be freed
up by the attempts of Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw to get hold of a
Mecachrome engine
