subject: Lantastic6 on W95/K6 ?

I need help with the initial hardware setup of
Lantastic. If this is not the place to ask,
                please let me know.
I have my two original Ethernet cards marked Artisoft AE-2(c)
1991. I used them previously to hook my Compaq 286 and IPC 386
portables using an older version of Lantastic.
I have placed the cards into my 486/66 and my new K6 computers
and hooked in the black coaxial cable.
I appear to have successfully installed the Lantastic6.0 software
from disks 1&2 on the old 486.
When I power up the 486 i see the message "waiting for the K6 to
come on line". I am familiar with that.
I power up the K6. It's an AMD-K6/233 with Award BIOS 4.51PG. The
boot screen shows that the BIOS has recognised the
Card-01: Creative SB AWE64 PnP
Detecting: Primary Master NEX DSE1700A (1.7G)
Detecting: Secondary Master Quantum Fireball (4.3G)
and then the text cursor hangs at the Right-hand end of:
Found: CDROM NEC CD-ROM Drive:285
for about sixty seconds, after which the machine
fires up into Windows95 with no further ado, although I can no
longer see the CDROM drive in W95 Explorer.
Attempting to add new hardware from the Control Panel brings me
to a screen that suggests I place the W95 CDRom in drive F:,
which does not exist now!
Attempting to add new hardware from the Control Panel can also
bring me to a "Have Disk" screen that suggests I place the
lantastic floppy diskette1 in drive A;. This I do, but W95 says
that no suitable files are to be found there.
I have a sneaking suspicion that my problems are related to IRQs
or other hexadecimal-horribles.
I'd appreciate any guidance in getting over this hump. Thanks in
advance for any hints, suggestions or tips.
