Just got the March/April issue of U.S. Airgun and got to say Robin seems to
be getting the hang of this magazine thing. Just about every page is well
one
and a little more consistent quality level of articles seems to be in
evidence. The cover, a full color center spread, and two full articles focus
on the Career 707 that seems to be the hunting rage these days. Thomas Jue’s
Mississippi Rat (Nutria) Busting article is an interesting insight into how
e
is taking advantage of an invasion by South American Nutria monster rodents
o
sight in his 707. But, the real treat is Stephen R. Gibbons article on the
new 707 MKII version which makes it sound like they have taken some serious
steps in improving this upcoming classic. The new Quick fill connection, 13
power levels instead of 3, much improved trigger, more sedate styling, what’s
not to like? Other than the $580 price I would pick one of these guys up in a
second. Couple days ago someone asked my advice about supplying a nurseryman
with a suitable pellet gun for serious pest control work, gotta be the
arreer
707 is what I told him, now it is the MKII version only. Neat stuff.
Ted Osborn, that trailer park New York recluse, takes a very left-handed look
at his beloved Sheridans.
For those Colt fans out there you will want to this issue for the
advertisement on page 13 alone. A full page color ad for Colt CO2 pistols has
got to be one the bigger surprises since Smith and Wesson came out with
airguns 20 years ago. Speaking of which if you are a Smith and Wesson DA auto
handgun fancier, and who isn’t, you gotta take a hard look at the Russian
ade
Anics A-111&A-112 Smith look-a-likes are right across on page 12. 500 fps BB
pistols with flawless function and built like a Russian T-34 tank. At $85 for
the short barreled A-111 and only $88 for the long barrel A-112 these have
ot
to be the fun shooting bargain of the year.
All of that would be enough for any other mag but this issue is topped off
with a great 2 page spread on the new Daystate CR97 competition rifle

by Brad Troyer. With a Daystate only one thing makes any difference.
ccuracy.
Brad reports 0.58” average c-t-c 10 shot groups at 50 yards. Pretty hot
uff.
For those budding BB gun collectors out there you certainly will want to note
that Robin has brought back Arni Dunathan’s classic The American BB Gun.
here
simply isn’t any better book on the subject and is absolutely indispensable
for every collector of American BB guns. Original copies of this book go for
over a $100 if you are lucky enough to find one. Don’t let this one slip by.
