Team McLaren to file British Grand Prix appeal

LONDON (Jul 15, 1998 - 16:09 EDT) - Formula One team McLaren confirmed
Wednesday that it planned to launch an appeal over the result of Sunday's
British Grand Prix.

Ferrari's Michael Schumacher won the race at Silverstone, ahead of
McLaren's Mika Hakkinen, to cut his rival's lead in the drivers'
championship to just two points.

But Schumacher was still in the pits serving a 10-second stop-go penalty
when he was awarded the victory and McLaren, according to BBC Radio 5, has
decided to contest the outcome.

No date has been announced for the appeal.
