Yep, when I was in college and in my early days at work, I had a cup of coffee going all day. One day when I had to let some employees go due to budget, I had extreme heart palpatations and my blood pressure spiked to 240/100 range. I thought I was having a heart attack and I was definitely in range for a stroke. I asked a co-woreker to drive me to the emergency room. After an Angiogram, the Dr. said the problem was related to too much caffeine, nicotine and stress. I immediately quit smoking, and reduced my caffeine intake. I'm still on 3 blood pressure meds and have been instructed to not drink more than 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day. My B.P. is normal, as long as I continue the meds. I even tried working out for several years to see if I could get off the meds, but no. I'm a high risk individual...which is why I the statement I made, that coffee is fine in moderation, is a statement made from my experience. That's the way to do it. You may not lose weight quickly while training with weights but you're helping your vascular system tremendously. Don't stop after 6 weeks, though. You'll just be getting settled into a routine. I realize I will have to exercise for the remainder of my life, though, to be able to retire without becoming a couch tater.
